Marathon Talk Episode 45: The Pub Quiz

The countdown to this year's AbbottWMM Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championships has passed an important milestone. With less than 100 days until over 1,800 athletes from around the world head Down Under, we thought we'd host a quiz to test Martin and Deena's knowledge of this year's event.

AWMM Chief Content Officer Danny Coyle returns to the podcast as quizmaster, bringing us stellar stats for those toeing the line in September.

Elsewhere in the running world, we bring you the latest from a record-setting NCAA Championships, a review of what went down in Rome last week at the European Championships, and why Boston's 'Spike' is getting a makeover…

Episode highlights

“You know when you've been running a long time, you try to keep running and your body is repeatedly telling you it's time to stop, and you repeatedly don't listen. That was me all winter, really. What I should have done is probably take a month. So when I did take a month, it felt much better.” - 7:00 - Martin Yelling

“The NCAA Championships are so well touted, athletes come to college here because of it, so it’s a chink in the armour of Americans to have Louis run it so superbly.” - 11:30 - Deena Kastor

“So this is a big upgrade on Spike from the Boston Marathon. Some other features that spike now has are 13 the spikes in his flowing mane, representing the 13 decades of the Boston Marathon, the longest running marathon in history. I'll also make news of his determined eye and athletic jawline.” - 19:50 - Deena Kastor
