CAREER NOTES:
Diana Chepkemoi Sigei made her marathon debut in Dubai last year with a solid sixth-place 2:26:53. In the fall she finished fourth in Toronto. Also in 2011, she was runner up at the ten-mile Dam tot Damloop in Amsterdam, in a personal best 52:46; fourth at the Lille Half Marathon in 1:10:42; third at the Nice Half Marathon; second at the Berlin 25K, in a personal best 1:26:14; and third at the Le Puy-en-Velay 15K in a personal best 51:13.
PERSONAL NOTES:
Sigei is married to Henry Kipsang, a 2:17 marathoner, and is sister-in-law to Salim Kipsang, the winner of the 2005 Paris and 2009 Tokyo Marathons. Her husband encouraged her to start running after the birth of the couple’s son.
