CAREER NOTES:
Jason Hartmann made up for a bad day at the 2012 US Olympic Marathon Trials (32nd) with a superb fourth place at the 2012 Boston Marathon. He was the top American prevailing over several Kenyans who had PRs more than five minutes faster. He repeated his fourth place at the 2013 race.
He was also the first American at Chicago in 2010 where he set his PR. Hartmann is a two-time U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials competitor and has represented the U.S. at the Pan American Games, World Cross Country Championships and World Half Marathon Championships.
Hartmann was a 6-time all-American at the University of Oregon.
PERSONAL NOTES:
Hartmann graduated from the University of Oregon with a BA in Education and Sociology. He currently runs with the Boulder Track Club and is coached by elite Australian marathoner Lee Troop. Hartmann grew up in Rockford, Michigan and in high school was a teammate of Dathan Ritzenhein. Hartmann is an assistant coach at Niwot High School.His favorite pet is his dog Maximus, a smart and fast Rottweiller.
