CAREER NOTES:
When Levy Matebo surged away from the pack at the 2012 Boston Marathon he seemed headed for victory, but the 22-year-old got caught by the more experienced Wesley Korir. Still a second place effort in his first World Marathon Major was a solid effort.
In a year and a half of marathon competitions, Matebo already has two victories and two runners-ups.
He was a top-ten finisher at the 2008 IAAF World Cross-Country Junior Championships. Matebo's half-marathon PR is just six seconds over an hour at Nice, France in April 2011.
PERSONAL NOTES:
Levy Matebo (Omari) finished secondary school and is married. He runs with the Police Team in Kenya, but was free of duty to train for the Boston Marathon. Matebo is affiliated with Gianni Demadonna’s group.
