CAREER NOTES:
Fukushi was born in Itayanagi, Aomori and was the torch lighter for the 2003 Asian Winter Games which took place in her home prefecture. She set a Japanese record holder for the half-marathon of 1:07:23 at Marugame in February 2006, going out at such a fast pace that her 46:55 split for 15 kilometers was the IAAF world record until November 2009.
